Home parks get a new leading Ambleside based voice
Published at 16:01, Thursday, 21 February 2013
AN Ambleside entrepreneur has been appointed to the board of a tourism industry regulator.
Henry Wild has been appointed as the vice chairman of the British Holiday and Home Parks Association, which has a membership of almost 3,000 parks, ranging from small farm-based businesses to major park groups.
In his new role, Mr Wild, 39, will take on a range of responsibilities, including talks with regional, national and European governments on issues affecting the parks industry.
It is a task for which he is well qualified. having last year helped lead the successful campaign against government plans to impose a 20 per cent VAT rate on static caravans.
Mr Wild is a director of his family's long-established holiday parks business, the flagship of which is the 130-acre Skelwith Fold Caravan Park, in Ambleside.
Mr Wild's father, Syd, still plays an active role in the business and is a former national chairman of the organisation, a position which his son is likely to assume in two years.
As well as running his holiday park enterprises, Mr Wild also assists his wife Hannah with the running of her successful internet-based animal care business, Supplement Solutions.
In addition, Mr Wild enjoys studying neuro-linguistic programming, a business management science, and has qualified as a master practitioner in the subject.
But although his term as vice chairman will mean an even busier agenda in the future, Mr Wild says his career to date has equipped him well for multi-tasking.
