A 40-YEAR-OLD woman has been taken to Lancaster Hospital with head, neck and chest injuries after suffering a motor racing accident at a banger car rally in Carnforth.

Great North Air Ambulance crews were called to the Warton Stock Car Club in Grosvenor Place, Carnforth, after an accident involving a female driver.

The event, which prides itself on having a lot of female drivers, sees banger cars in all shapes and sizes race round the track.

Tony Porter, a spokesperson for the event, said: "We had an incident where a car hit the wall and as a precaution we cut them out of the car.

"The Great North Air Ambulance were called more as a precaution than anything else - it was nothing overly serious.

"I think she just tweaked her back but we always like to err on the side of caution."

The woman, who suffered head, neck and chest injuries, has since been taken to hospital in an ambulance and is in a stable condition.
