POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a 22-year-old female motorist was left with head injuries following a crash on the A590 at Backbarrow.
Police, paramedics and Highways England staff were called to the eastbound carriageway at Backbarrow at around 10pm on Tuesday night, just before the dual carriageway.
A woman from Grange driving a silver Vauxhall Astra left the road and collided with the safety barrier, dislodging around 50 yards of the metal barrier. The woman was taken to Furness General Hospital in Barrow with head injuries.
Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call police on 101.
