CHARITY bosses have visited staff at a playground manufacturing company after it agreed to donate money to their cause through fundraising events in 2017.

Playdale Playgrounds, which is based in Haverthwaite, has chosen the North West Air Ambulance charity as its nominated cause after it received the most amount of votes in a staff poll.

The charity needs to raise in excess of £7million each year to meet the costs of maintaining its existing service and relies solely on donations.

Throughout 2017, Playdale staff plan to donate time and money to their chosen cause by volunteering for the charity.

Sarah Thompson, a representative for North West Air Ambulance, said: "I was very moved to hear the personal experiences of our charity that had touched the lives of the staff, their families and friends. We are delighted to have been nominated by them - it means such a lot to us.

"With their support, we can continue to be here for them, their family and friends and everyone in the North West, 365 days a year."

Since the charity launched in 1999, it has embarked on more than 20,000 missions and it currently has three helicopters that are available every day of the year.
