WALKERS have been given the opportunity to join in one of the most picturesque walks in the county.

Cumbria Wildlife Trust is inviting people to join them on their annual Cross Bay Walk Challenge across the iconic Morecambe Bay sands from Arnside to Grange.

The eight-mile sponsored walk will be led by the Queen’s Guide to the Sands, Cedric Robinson MBE.

It will offer walkers spectacular views of well-known sites from the unusual perspective of the sands, such as Humphrey Head and Arnside Knott.

Andrea Simpson of Cumbria Wildlife Trust, said: “Not only is the Cross Bay Walk Challenge a great day out on the sands of Morecambe Bay, it’s also a fantastic opportunity to raise funds to help protect our county’s precious wildlife.

The walk will take place on Saturday 20 May, starting at 12.30pm.

Bookings have to be made in advance to take part, and can be completed by visiting www.cumbriawildlifetrust.org.uk to complete an entry form, or call 01539 816300.

The walk only costs £12.50 for adults and £7.50 for children. This includes a free t-shirt and official certificate from Cedric Robinson MBE for each participant. Walkers are encouragement to seek sponsorship for the walk.
