A TRIAL date has been set for a man accused of assault and obstructing a police officer.

Wayne Johnston, of Elizabeth Street, Manchester, will stand trial at Furness Magistrates' Court on Monday.

It is alleged that 43-year-old Johnston assaulted Ciprian Basa by beating in Grange between June 5 and June 6.

He is also charged with two counts of obstructing or resisting a constable in the execution of their duty.

Johnston denies all three charges.
