A SOUTH Cumbria man who denies harassing and intimidating a woman is due to go on trial later this year.

Two charges were put to Tomas Bryan Wilkinson, 26, when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court yesterday.

He pleaded not guilty to an allegation that he put Imogen Macro in fear of violence by harassment, during a period between August 1 and October 17 last year.

Wilkinson also denied a charge of intimidation. This alleges that he telephoned the same female and made threats, on January 9 this year, knowing she was a witness in criminal proceedings.

A timetable for the case was outlined in court by the respective lawyers in the case - Beccy McGregor, prosecuting, and Kim Whittlestone, defending.

Wilkinson, of Church Road, Allithwaite, near Grange, was told by Judge Peter Davies his trial would get under way at the crown court on May 2. It is estimated this will last two to three days.

In the meantime Wilkinson was remanded in custody by Judge Davies.
