SOUTH Cumbrian antique aficionados will be glued to their televisions next weekend as a BBC favourite comes to our area.

An episode of The Antiques Roadshow which filmed at Holker Hall and Gardens last July will finally be broadcast on Sunday June 25, at 8pm, on BBC1.

Thousands of people flocked to the tourist attraction to see Fiona Bruce and the show's experts cast a discerning eye over their family heirlooms.

The gardens and grounds at Holker provided a wonderful backdrop for the filming. Jillian Rouse, head of visitor services, said: “Many local people brought along their treasures and family heirlooms to the Antiques Roadshow’s team of more than 30 experts which included many of Britain’s leading antiques and fine arts specialists.

"It was a great day with lots of interesting stories and some unusual items. It was also fascinating to see behind the scenes of such a popular programme.”

Holker Hall is planning to hold an antiques fair in March 2018.
