The father of the boy who died at a caravan park has paid tribute to his "little angel" on Facebook.

A Just Giving page has been set up for Luca's family following his death, and has since raised £500.

Sophie Wheeler, who set up the appeal, wrote: "Little four year old Luca drowned while on holiday with his family. "You can show your support to Luca's family by donating to help celebrate his life. Taken too soon. Sleep tight angel x."

Cumbria police confirmed that Luca, who died following an incident on Monday at Old Park Wood Caravan Park, Grange, died as result of drowning.

Police said there are no suspicious circumstances and the file has now been passed to the coroner.

Police and the ambulance services were called after it was reported a four-year-old boy had suffered severe injuries at the caravan park.

Two ambulances from the North West Ambulance Service were alerted to the emergency at around 3.56pm on August 8.

The police were also called to the caravan park around 4.40pm.

They confirmed that the young boy was taken to FGH, and transferred to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool. Police later confirmed that he had died.

At the time a police spokesman described their investigation into how the boy was injured as "ongoing."

The caravan site is a very popular destination for people wanting to experience the beautiful Cumbrian countryside that it sits in.

The site is part of Holker Estates Holiday Parks.

Duncan Peake, chief executive of the Holker Group spoke about the incident at the pool.

He said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the young boy.

"We know very little at this moment. The police are setting up an investigation, and will issue a statement soon."

"The holiday park remains open. The pool is due to reopen shortly."

The family of the boy are being supported by the police during this difficult time.

Detectives are not treating the child's death as suspicious.

Anyone who can help the police with their inquiries has been asked to call Cumbria Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
