The Holker Garden Festival is now accepting entries for its 24th annual Show Garden competition and landscapers, gardeners and designers are needed.

The show gardens take the centre stage on the showground and this year’s theme is, Gardening Through the Generations.

All show gardens will be officially judged and awarded a Large Gold, Gold, Silver Gilt, Silver or Bronze by the judges.

The event attracts around 20,000 visitors across the three days and this year's special guest will be TV presenter and gardening expert, Charlie Dimmock.

John Roberts of Sharp Paving, Kendal, Cumbria, has designed and installed a show garden at the festival for the past 11 years.

He said: "The first was an experiment to see if it was useful to my business.

"I achieved a Silver Gilt which I was very pleased with, but more importantly I gained some significant contacts, enquiries and over £160,000 worth of work.”

A gardens total display area must be a minimum of 6m x 6m, however new exhibitors will be offered an 8m x 8m plot.

The Holker Garden Festival will be taking place from Friday June 3 until Sunday June 5.

Entries must be made by February 16.
