POLICE in South Cumbria are investigating a series of burglaries at a business park.

Police have received six reports of burglaries from businesses at the Airfield Approach Business Park near Moor Lane in Flookburgh. Five premises were broken into during the early hours of Thursday 5th May and a sixth premises was attacked during the early hours of Friday 6th May.

Property stolen from the first five premises on the 6th May included alcohol, tools and cash stolen from premises on the site. A Mercedes van was seen leaving the scene and was left abandoned following a police pursuit in Morecambe. 

The majority of the stolen property from these first five offences was recovered from inside the van and have now been returned to two catering companies who were two of the businesses targeted.

The sixth offence took place the following night at Ashleigh Engineering at the business park where £350 in cash and two distinctive electric bicycles were stolen. Both bikes remain outstanding and are described as :

A blue and white Batribike ‘Granite’ electric bike and battery charger which is valued at £1,029 A slate grey Freego ‘Martin Sport’ electric bike and battery charger. The bike has apple green decals and is valued at £1,600. 

Detective Constable Tom Pearman, of South Cumbria CID, said: “We believe that this is a targeted crime series and are looking for anyone with information on the two bikes outstanding to get in touch.

“Fortunately we have been able to recover the majority of the items stolen but this does not in any way dilute the seriousness of these offences. Anyone with information on who is responsible is asked to get in touch as your information could prove vital.”
