The shop generates solid income for the south Cumbria charity and money raised goes towards providing end of life care to residents across the area.

Customers gave the shop's refurbishment a clear thumbs up when it reopened on Thursday, saying it looked a lot fresher and more spacious.

Caroline Welch, head of retail at St Mary's Hospice, said: "It's been a long time coming. I'm so immensely proud and pleased for all our volunteers.

"It's been a tremendous effort, lots of great teamwork to create this beautiful looking shop."

People visiting the charity shop will be able to pick up a bargain, with items such as clothes, shoes, games, ornaments and household goods all sold.
