A NEW pop-up at a local historic site has proved to be a sellout over the summer months.

Holker Hall has been visited by both locals and tourists during July and August thanks to ‘Pop-up Pub & Pizza in the Courtyard’.

The pop-up is open every Saturday from 3pm until the end of August and visitors can expect food, ales and family fun.

The alfresco afternoons have been so popular, the restaurant has been close to selling out of pizza.

Jillian Rouse, head of visitor services, said: "We’ve been delighted with the interest in this regular event – we’re keen to attract people to the Courtyard as it’s such a lovely setting for informal food and family events.

"You can come and sit, soak up the atmosphere, eat delicious pizza, try some of the great local ales on offer and while away a few hours with friends and family – it’s all very relaxed.

"Someone actually said it’s the best cheesy garlic bread in Cumbria."

Holker Hall's novelty attraction makes fresh woodfired pizza, served straight from the oven including margarita, pepperoni, seafood and cheesy garlic bread.

Drinks and refreshments will also be served, including games for children.

Holker Hall will host plenty of events this year to occupy the rest of the summer, including behind-the-scenes tours of the kitchen garden, every Thursday at 2pm, with the resident gardener.

The venue will also be offering a Plant Fair and Holker Food Market on Sunday August 26.

The fair will bring together many of the North's top specialist nurseries, growers and plantsmen and women, which offers offers a huge choice of plantlife.

From 10am, the Holker Food Market will provide samples of a variety of fresh, local and regional food and drink.
