Fun day bounces back with delight

HUNDREDS of people bounced, danced and giggled their way through a family fun day.

A giant bouncy castle slide greeted visitors to Millom Network Centre on Friday, while inside youngsters were busy dancing to chart hits.

Faces were painted by volunteers from Millom Community Church and youngsters brought the corridors to life with the sound of laughter and excitement.

Residents of the network centre, including South Copeland Tourism, RSPB Hodbarrow and the Evening Mail, were on hand throughout the day to talk to visitors.

The sounds of The Bay radio were piped in to the building on loud speakers, as the mid morning to dinner time show was presented live from the network centre.

Paul Stewart, Millom Network Centre manager, said the day had been a great success.

He said: “This has been our most successful open day yet. The community has joined in and everything has gone smoothly. And we’ve had a bit of good weather for it.

“The day is about showing the community what’s on offer for them at the facility.

“Lots of people have volunteered their time on the day to make it a success and there’s been a real vibrant community centre feel about the place all day.”

Fresh from receiving his GCSE results at Millom School on Thursday, Jack Pattinson provided an all-day dance session for youngsters.

The 16-year-old, who masterminded the school’s Rock Challenge stage show success, said: “It’s been nice to be able to support the network centre after they supported me with the Rock Challenge.”
