Flookburgh and Kendal groups shortlisted for Lloyds community fund

Flookburgh-based Bay Search and Rescue and Flooks 4 Youths are among those to have been shortlisted for the Lloyds Community Fund

Westmorland and Lonsdale Lib-dem MP Tim Farron has voiced his support to two Flookburgh and two Kendal groups.

Flookburgh based Bay Search and Rescue and ‘Flooks 4 Youth’ will compete in the Barrow section.

More than 7,000 community groups across England, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands were nominated.

About 1,400 groups in 350 communities have been shortlisted.

Four winners will be chosen based on residents’ votes with the highest receiving £3,000, next £2,000, £1,000 and the final group, £500.

Sight Advice South Lakes and South Lakeland Hydrotherapy Trust (SLHT), both based in Kendal have also been shortlisted.

Mr Farron: “I am delighted that four amazing local charities have put themselves forward for funding. Each of these organisations do a wonderful job and I am urging local people to support them.

“I’m pleased that these five good causes are not all up against each other so you can do what I have done and support all of them!”
