Falling tiles forces shop closure in Barrow

A SHOP in Barrow closed its doors as tiles fell from its roof, causing a safety hazard for customers.

Booker Cash and Carry in Bouthwood Road was due to be shut until this afternoon due to strong winds damaging its roof.

A spokeswoman from Booker yesterday said: “Booker takes the safety of customers and colleagues very seriously.

“Due to the current high winds, a small number of tiles have blown off the roof. We have made the decision to close the branch until lunchtime tomorrow (Friday) .

“We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause any of our customers.”
