Extended curfew for Barrow man who cut off tag

A BARROW criminal who claimed he cut off his electronic tag while drunk has had his curfew extended.

Michael Shepherd, 37, of Egerton Court, Barrow Island, appeared before Furness Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

An application was made to revoke his previous sentence of a month-long curfew for using abusive words and behaviour given on June 11.

Magistrates decided to add another four weeks to the curfew.

Shepherd told the court that the monitoring device had been installed when he was drunk and he had cut it off. He later claimed it was a friend who had removed it.

He was fined £65 costs.
