Disruption after accident on Barrow road

POLICE were called to the scene of an accident after a moped was involved in a collision with a car.

The incident happened at around 7.10pm at the junction of Abbey Road and Park Drive in Barrow, near to the White House hotel.

Police redirected traffic while the moped rider was tended to by paramedics. The incident involved a Peugeot 207 and a Piaggio scooter.

They were then taken to Furness General Hospital for further treatment and police said the rider's injuries were not believed to be serious.

Traffic was flowing freely again on the road by 7.40pm.
