Dine at the Blue Lamp
Published at 16:31, Wednesday, 05 September 2012
THE refurbished Blue Lamp has opened its doors for business.
In the experienced hands of Debbie and Darren Reid this well known Barrow pub is now catering to customers looking for a good meal as well as a drink.
By day the Blue Lamp serves traditional dishes such as shepherds pie with vegetables and toad in the hole with potatoes and green beans.
Or why not try that favourite gammon, egg and chips, or Cumberland sausage with mash and a selection of vegetables.
There are also freshly made sandwiches on request, including toasted.
But come the evening diners can treat themselves to dishes such as braised belly pork, spinach, new potatoes, carrots and apple jus or fish pie with honey glazed Chantenay carrots, to name a couple.
There is also a daily specials board.
Debbie is pleased that this more upmarket menu is getting plenty of good feedback from satisfied diners.
The kitchen is in the hands of chef Chris Adams and Debbie says all the food is fresh not frozen.
Another offer which is proving popular is the family favourite Sunday roast (two courses for £8.95).
OAPs have not been forgotten and can look forward to a special three course meal for £9.99 on Tuesdays to Thursdays.
Although the Blue Lamp is open seven days a week the kitchen is closed on Mondays, but the other six days food is served from noon with last food orders taken at 8.30pm.
In the new look Blue Lamp customers can expect professional and friendly service from the front of house staff.
Debbie and Darren have been running the nearby Peacock pub for the past six years, where they are proud of their five star rating for hygiene.
However, they are really relishing taking on a fresh challenge and serving up good quality food, or even a tea or coffee, to customers in the Blue Lamp in Rawlinson Street.
