REVIEW: Denis Horan and Friends at Forum 28, Barrow on Tuesday December 8.
NEARLY 500 people turned out to see a great evening of festive fun with Denis Horan and friends.
The show got underway with Denis singing the moving song Feeling Good. He then introduced Chris Campbell and they both went through some of the great boy band songs together as Mystical Experience, the girls in the audience cheering, screaming and hanging on to their every word.
Next came a more gentle selection, with Denis introducing Gary Goude and Laura Collings, with the three of them once again performing as The Rat Pack, covering such classics as New York, New York, Have You Met Miss Jones, and That’s Amore.
The first half closed with a couple of Christmas songs, Santa Baby and Merry Christmas Everyone.
After the break, Denis opened with Laura, doing a rock and roll set, getting all the audience involved and singing along. Everything from Rock Around The Clock to songs from Grease were thrown out to the crowd’s delight.
The evening took a more Christmassy feel to it as all the cast took to the stage for some festive songs to round off the evening, including, of course, White Christmas, when the snow machine went into overdrive.
Credit must go to Sarah Powell and her dancers, the hard-working crew at Forum 28 and also to Denis himself, who had been fighting a chest infection for the previous week.
Denis has been putting on a charity show every Christmas for the last 10 years and, with his charm and charismatic personality, always manages to raise plenty of money at these events. Good luck to him, may it continue for many more years to come.
