FIRE crews were forced to cut a woman from the wreckage of a two-car collision which took place on Friday December 15 in Dalton.

Around 10.59am a Vauxhall Corsa driven by an 18-year-old Barrow woman collided with a VW Transporter in Ulverston Road.

Cumbria police closed the road for more than one hour as fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the trapped woman.

A spokesman from Cumbria police said the driver of the VW, a man from Dalton, was unharmed, but the woman was taken to hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
