A CHARITABLE initiative to rid people of their unwanted Christmas trees is set to begin at a garden centre today.
As part of an annual scheme, Ulverston-based St Mary's Hospice is offering a handy tree recycling service which encourages people to give away their trees in return for a small fee.
The initiative will be starting at Charnley's Home and Garden in Daltron where a team of volunteers and local businesses will be there with vans and drivers from 8:30am to dispose of people's trees.
Donations are encouraged as part of the initiative which raises money for the charity in its a bid to provide supportive and palliative care for people with life limiting conditions across south Cumbria.
