POLICE have appealed for witnesses after the owner of a Shih Tzu reported her pet had been attacked in the street by another dog.

The incident happened at around 6pm on Sunday in Ainslie Street in Dalton, close to the junction with Prince Street.

The 66-year-old female owner of a Shih Tzu said she was out walking when a dog she described as a white Staffordshire Bull Terrier attacked her pet causing severe internal injuries.

The attacking dog was being walked by a man.
