TOP flight English football clubs are desperate to lift this prestigious silverware - and next week an excited Dalton school community will have the honour of hosting the Barclays Premier League trophy.

Pupils, staff and parents from Dalton St Mary's CE School are delighted that the Barclays Premier League trophy has been selected to visit their school on Thursday.

The school was selected at random as a reward for being part of the Premier League Primary Stars programme. The experience is designed to inspire girls and boys in the classroom, the playground and the sports field.

The children will see the trophy up close and will be able to ask Premier League staff questions about the trophy and the Premier League.

During the day the pupils will also participate in sports sessions led by staff from Blackpool FC and Morecambe FC and there will be classroom sessions around healthy living which will also be led by staff from the football clubs.

Lynda Woodburn, headteacher of Dalton St Mary's CE Primary School, said they are very fortunate to have the Premier League Trophy visiting school and the children and staff are really excited about the day.
