A MAN has been arrested after a car careered off the A590 and crashed into a row of parked vehicles in Lindal in the early hours of this morning.

At least one fire engine was called to the scene of the crash which happened close to Railway Terrace in Lindal

The incident, which happened at approximately 4am this morning, destroyed the front of a blue Ford Focus which is believed to have been the car of the driver who caused the crash.

A number of other parked cars were also seriously damaged.

An onlooker who witnessed the incident said: "I heard it all first and then when I went down the police had just arrived and blocked the road off.

"There were about six parked cars and I think he must have hit four of them. It looks like he caught the Land Rover and then spun and smashed into the other ones further down.

"People do drive down that road quite fast. They fly through Lindal, especially at night."

The man was reportedly arrested by police for failing to provide a breath test.
