A STUNNING Furness landmark is to go under the hammer at auction tonight

The Grade II listed Tytup Hall, off Broughton Road, near Dalton, will go before bidders on April 13, with a guide price of £325,000.

The five-bedroom property is noted for its important architectural features.

They include sash windows, pediments, pilasters, cornices and friezes over two fireplaces which have been carefully preserved over the centuries, having been in the same family for many years.

The building, which dates back to the 18th century has already attracted a lot of interest from prospective buyers.

In addition to the bedrooms, the house includes three attic rooms and a one bedroom cottage attached called The Peathouse.

It stands in about two acres of grounds and comes complete with a working glasshouse.

Mark Plant from Auction House Cumbria said, “It’s unusual to see such a high calibre of property coming onto the market.

"It needs updating in terms of its kitchen and bathrooms but the standard of building is very high. It’s a mini-estate really with lots of potential and in Cumbrian terms it’s certainly not isolated.”

The auction will take place in Ulverston, at 6.30pm tonight
