THE funeral of a great-grandmother who died after being hit by a van in Dalton is set to take place.
Hilda Higgins, of Rawlinson Street, Dalton, was hit by a white van in Market Street on Thursday November 17.
She died at Furness General Hospital as a result of her injuries. A 27-year-old man from Dalton who was driving the van was uninjured following the collision.
Mrs Higgins, wife of James, mother of Christine, Stephen and Cath, and sister to Michael and Angela, was described by her family as "much loved".
They said: "The wife of Jim for over 56 years and much loved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
"Hilda had lived in Dalton for over 50 years and was known to many, especially for her work as a volunteer in St Mary's Hospice Shop.
"Hilda will be sadly missed by both family and friends."
The funeral of Mrs Higgins will take place at St Mary's Church in Dalton on Monday December 5 at 12 noon prior to burial.
