FLOODING at the Lindal dip is causing delays on the A590.

There are hold ups at the flood spot due to the rain today.

The road is passable with care.

Highways England is undertaking at roadworks scheme to tackle the notorious flood zone.

There is work happening in the area until July 6 to make drainage improvements.

A key feature of the scheme is to install a large drain across the carriageway to funnel and channel away run-off water from the highway.

Highways England say that temporary traffic lights will be in use at the Lindal dip:

- From 8pm on Friday June 17 to 6am on Monday, June 20 (all times)

- From 8pm on Friday June 24 to 6am on Wednesday June 29 (all times)

- From 8pm on Friday July 1 to 6am on Wednesday July 6 (all times)

Work is due to be completed by Saturday July 9. Temporary traffic lights may be in use overnight between 8pm and 6am outside of these times.

Drivers are being advised that a 40mph speed limit will be in place along with occasional 10mph convoys, where drivers will be guided through the roadworks by a contractor's vehicle.
