A SOUTH Cumbrian father breached a non-molestation order after chasing his ex-partner and children on his mobility scooter.

The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his children, breached the order last month in Dalton.

The order had been in place for around six months when the breach occurred on September 28.

Peter Kelly, prosecuting, said: "His ex-partner and two children were walking down the street and he was on the other side of the road when he saw them.

"He started following them on his mobility scooter and at one point he was within a few feet of them. It made his ex-partner feel intimidated."

The man pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court in Barrow today.

Trystan Roberts, defending, said: "This was a chance meeting and he does not accept he went out to intimidate anyone.

"He wanted to talk to his children and he tells me that one of them shouted to him to tell him they love him."

The man was given an eight week curfew between 7am and 7pm. He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £85.
