Emergency services were called to a property in Dalton after receiving reports that a 14-year-old boy had been burned.

Fire crews, police officers and paramedics rushed out to St Helen's Hill in Dalton at 3.20pm today believing a teen had been set on fire.

Despite the initial police log stating the boy's clothing had been set alight, it has now been confirmed that the teen was scalded.

He was treated by paramedics who took him to hospital before Barrow fire arrived at the scene.

It is thought the injuries sustained are not life threatening.

A spokesman for Barrow fire said: "We got there as quickly and safely as we could and paramedics told us he wasn't burned but had been scalded.

"Sometimes people say they burned themselves but it's not always fire and when the message is passed on it's not always clear."
