A 38-year-old woman found guilty of abandoning four dogs is to be sentenced.
The four dachshund dogs were left so severely dehydrated they were licking condensation off the windows after police and Barrow Borough Council officers raided Michelle Brown's address in Thornton Park, Dalton, following concerns raised by neighbours.
They found four thirsty and underweight dogs during the raid on December 28, last year. The animals had even licked the toilet bowl dry in their desperation to get water.
The defendant failed to turn up for her hearing at Furness Magistrates' Court two weeks ago so the case was proved in her absence.
District Judge Gerald Chalk will sentence Brown tomorrow at Furness Magistrates' Court and she may be banned from keeping animals.
