A COFFEE morning will take place at a school in memory of a 42-year-old Dalton mum who died after losing her battle with breast cancer.

The life of Joanne Hulbert from Dalton, who passed away on August 27, will be celebrated by staff and pupils at St Mary's primary school in Coronation Drive where her son Charlie goes.

Mrs Hulbert was described by teacher and friend Lisa Robinson as "a brilliant classroom helper", who always willing to help out at the school.

She added: "Joanne was a brilliant mum to Charlie and I know that she loved him dearly and was always so proud of his achievements.

"She was a memory maker. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially watching Charlie play tennis and football. She lit up a room as she walked in and charmed everyone with her witty sense of humour. She was incredibly strong and a fantastic friend to have."

The coffee morning, which will take place on Friday September 30 from 10am, will raise vital funds for the MacMillan cancer charity as well as St Mary's Hospice which supported Mrs Hulbert throughout her illness.

As well a huge cake sale, there will be a raffle with prizes including meal vouchers and golf experiences as well as lots of fun and games for the children to enjoy.

The 42-year-old helped out at the school whenever she could and part of the money raised will also go towards a bench in her memory which will be erected on the school playing field.
