A MAN is appealing to members of the public after his pet owl flew away yesterday.
Mike Kernaghan, from Dalton, last saw his owl, Luna, yesterday when she flew away as she was being put into an aviary.
Luna, a white barn owl with brown speckles on her back, is just three and a half months old and Mr Kernaghan is determined to find her.
He said: "After 24 hours she could be anywhere. We think she should be fine. It's just natural instinct for them to start hunting but it will be a learning curve for her.
"We just want her home. As soon as she went, all our friends and family were out looking and we've been looking for her ever since.
"We need to find her. She's not a wild animal, humans are part of her life."
Mr Kernaghan, 24, described Luna as a white, fluffy owl with a brown, speckled back and a "big, white dish" on her face.
Anyone who thinks they may have seen Luna should call her name and hold out their arm before contacting Mr Kernaghan on 07747730445.
