A MAN appeared in court charged with attempted murder and possession of an axe.
Timothy David Nickson, of Broughton Road, Dalton, entered no plea to the charges facing him as he appeared at Furness Magistrates' Court today.
He is charged with attempting to murder a 46-year-old man and possessing an offensive weapon on Thursday night.
Police were called to Broughton Road at 8pm following reports a man had been attacked with an axe.
The victim and Nickson were taken to Furness General Hospital following the incident.
Nickson, 42, was denied bail and remanded in custody and is due to appear at Preston Crown Court on July 28.
He spoke only to confirm his name, age and date of birth when he appeared before magistrates.
