A FORMER fire station could be demolished to make way for three new houses.
Dalton's old fire station in Broughton Road closed in 2014 and was sold at a public auction in September of the same year to Michael Wood of Urswick for £130,000, who wants to create three three-bedroomed homes on the site.
Dalton with Newton Town Council has raised no objections to the proposal but residents in Butts Beck are concerned about a build-up in traffic during development and the "detrimental effect" it will have on the amount of natural light that will come into their homes.
Barrow Borough Council's planning committee will meet on January 31 to decide whether or not to grant planning permission.
A report published prior to the meeting concluded that "the development will address a brown field site which is otherwise likely to fall into decay and provide new houses in a sustainable location."
