GOLDEN eggs, a twist on gin and tonic and sheep's yoghurt were just some of the incredible dishes diners at a celebrity chefs event enjoyed last night.
The second night of the Lake District Farmers Armstrong Family Charitable Fund Dinner was a roaring success, with more than 120 guests enjoying a delicious taster menu, featuring Cumbrian produce.
Held in the beautiful surroundings of Clarence House Country Hotel and Restaurant, the event is an annual extravaganza of fine food and drink, bringing some of the country's very best chefs to the Dalton venue.
Last night, Simon Rogan, Mark Froydenlund and Paul Hood crafted culinary masterpieces for the guests, serving dishes such as mackerel with miso and cauliflower, pork jowl and wild Cumbrian venison loin.
Mr Rogan, whose restaurant, the L'Enclume in Cartmel, is consistently voted best in Britain by the Good Food Guide, said it was always an honour to take part in the event.
He said: "I'm here to help a good cause to try to raise money for a worthy cause.
"I think this is my fourth year. I've been doing this since it began."
The annual event is held in honour of fund founder and Barrow businessman Ray Armstrong who died in 2013.
Money raised from the event is donated to charities, projects and local good causes through the Evening Mail in his memory.
Dan Austin, managing director of Lake District Farmers, said: "It's not just about the food. It's about the crack, the atmosphere. People know they are doing a good thing.
"When it all comes together it creates something special."
