A DALTON community group is on the lookout for helpers after announcing its latest get-togethers.

Dalton Creatives was launched earlier this year to bring the people of the town together.

Having hosted a successful Big Lunch last month, it has now announced three more events.

Starting on October 1, the group will host a tea dance with Ann Thurlow, mayor of Dalton, on October 1 at the Community Hall, with volunteers needed to lead the dancing needed between 12pm and 2pm.

They will also host a weekend of arts, science, craft, technology, digital and sports events on October 7 and 8. The Fun Palaces weekend will take place at the Community Centre starting at 10am on both days.

Dalton South councillor Shaun Blezard, director of Dalton Creatives, said: "We believe in the Fun Palaces motto of 'everyone an artist, everyone a scientist' so couldn't resist not getting involved in the weekend.

"We hope to fill the centre with all sorts of family activities that will be fun, but also may give you some skills and knowledge you didn't have before arriving. It really has the makings of a wonderful weekend of family fun. We just need our community to step up and join us.

"The whole weekend is free and is about us all getting together and sharing our skills and time."

The Saturday event will focus on fun arts and science activities, with Leonard Cheshire Youthability set to attend, while the Sunday will look at repairing and recycling anything from bikes to clothes.

Anyone interested in getting involved in any of the events can contact Shaun Blezard on 07743822114.
