A BRAVE Dalton girl who is fighting cancer and her selfless little sister have been nominated for The Mail's Christmas Stars.

Charlotte Munro, 11, is battling Osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. The youngster is a patient at The Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and she is having gruelling chemotherapy treatment.

A tumour in her arm was so aggressive that it fractured her arm. She has recently had surgery to replace the bone with titanium in her arm, from her shoulder to her elbow.

Charlotte has not attended school since March and she has missed starting secondary school due to her fighting cancer.

Her cousin, Cassie Munro, nominated Charlotte and said: "Charlotte is battling Osteosarcoma and has had a lot of chemotherapy, and an operation removing her bone in her arm.

"She is the bravest and strongest person I have ever met. She is so, so brave and so, so strong. Charlotte makes us all so proud. It is such a privilege to be her cousin."

Miss Munro also nominated Charlotte's little sister Olivia, for Christmas Stars. Olivia, age four has been put forward for her selflessness.

She said: "With her sister, dad and her mum going back and forth from Manchester hospital, Olivia has been staying with Nana and Grandad a lot.

"She has been so selfless and understanding about her sister needing her mum more than she does right now and she hasn't moaned about not seeing them all of the time. It is so selfless with her being so young and dependent on her mum. Everything is all up in the air for her at the moment and she is dealing with it so well.

Charlotte and Olivia are both amazing and we are so proud of both of them."

This year family and friends of Charlotte raised £2,500 for MacMillan nurses with a Scafell Pike challenge.
