POLICE were called to Dalton after a man carrying an air rifle tried to get into a pub.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing at least five police vans in Tudor square responding to the incident.
The man, described by police as a "local man in his 60s" had long been banned from going into the pub.
A Cumbria police spokesman said: "He had an air rifle, but it was contained in a bag. He was a male from the area that was barred from the pub a long time ago.
"Two patrol cars were sent, but more may have responded.
"The man has not been arrested at this time."
