Dalton teacher appointed as new head at Walney School

WALNEY School has appointed a new headteacher.

John Richardson

Governors have announced that following a detailed and thorough selection process, they have appointed John Richardson, currently Deputy Head at Dowdales School in Dalton.

A statement from the governors said: "Mr Richardson will start in the post in January, and governors look forward to working with him and the rest of the staff in continuing to raise standards at the school.

"Governors want to thank Helen Collis for her hard work as acting headteacher since Easter, and leading the school through a very difficult period.

"She will continue in the role until Mr Richardson takes up his post."

Have your say

My sons at walney and this appointment is just what the school needs! I've heard excellent reports from dowdales parents! Well done on getting the job!
