A CHILDREN'S play area could benefit to the tune of £15,000 from a housing development.

Developer Tay Homes (Northern) Ltd has offered the cash to Ryedale District Council as part of its scheme at West End Mews, Kirkbymoorside.

The council wrote to providers of public open space and outdoor recreational facilities in Kirkbymoorside to invite proposals on how the money should be spent.

Kirkbymoorside Football Club asked for the funding to improve club dugouts, railings and pitch drainage, while Kirkbymoorside Town Council requested the money to provide new equipment on Ryedale View play area.

District council officers have recommended that the town council should receive the full £15,000 for the play equipment. The community services and licensing committee will meet to discuss the matter on Thursday.
