Cumbria Trading Standards warn of rogue fish sellers
Last updated at 09:40, Friday, 06 September 2013
RESIDENTS have been warned to be on the look-out for unscrupulous fish sellers operating door-to-door.
Cumbria Trading Standards has issued the alert after reports of fish-sellers transporting their goods from the North East in an unrefrigerated van to areas around the county.
The fish is normally contained in polystyrene trays, is often unlabelled and may be nearing the end of its shelf life.
A spokeswoman from trading standards said: “Our advice is simple; do not let uninvited doorstep salesmen of any kind into your home.”
If anyone encounters anyone selling fish door to door they are asked to contact trading standard on 08454 040506.
