Cumbria police hunt yobs after town centre spray paint spree

Masked yobs who sprayed graffiti on buildings across a Cumbria town centre are being hunted by police.

Police were inundated with calls on Monday morning from owners of businesses across Whitehaven who were targeted by the vandals.

Copeland council offices on Catherine Street were attacked as well as the Tesco store on North Shore Road and the warehouse doors of Home Bargains on Preston Street.

It is also believed that Wilkinsons on Lowther Street and the Impact Housing offices, next to the council were hit.

CCTV at the council offices and Tesco caught the criminals in the act, before they sprayed graffiti on the cameras.

The images show three youths wearing masks and hooded tops.

A force spokeswoman said: “It looks like the damage was done overnight on Sunday at various locations over Whitehaven.”

On each occasion the words “PC PC Who Are We? Illuminati.” were used.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
