Cumbria fire crews plan further strike action

MORE fire strikes are being staged in Cumbria and across the country this weekend.

Some Fire Brigades Union members of Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service will be taking industrial action between 6pm and 10pm on both Friday and Saturday. The strike has been prompted due to a row with government over pensions.

Ian Cartwright, Cumbria’s deputy chief fire officer, said: “We’re fully prepared for the impending strike action and will be putting in place contingency plans to enable us to maintain a fire and rescue service capability in the same way we did during the last industrial action.”
