Cumbria family starved for 6 days

THE horror story of a Cumbria family so poor they had to go without food for nearly a week has shocked a church community into action.

Have your say

All,

Improving access to the area would create jobs and the situation would improve. Debate after debate over a barrage being built has lead to Millom becoming deprived in certain parts. I welcome pretty countryside but would much prefer to see other's not suffering as a result of neglect.

Tony Williamson AND Neil,Let me educate you as to your comments.
The British government-no matter who's in power cares not one iota for its working class, you may think they do but I can assure you they certainly do not so,by the same token they care even less for the peoples of other governments. This is where people like Tony And Neil are hoodwinked when Aid is sent abroad. My learned friends,Aid is sent abroad in the name of Aid but Aid on compassionate grounds for the peoples of other countries it most certainly is not. What it is,is a stick to beat the government of that particular country with,IE,don't do as we say and don't do what we want and don't deal with other particular countries that we don't happen to like--and,we withdraw that so called Aid,now do you get the picture?.Your enemies my friends, your real enemies are not abroad-in the middle east-or wherever, they are here under your very noses,in your own backyard.20 mile round trip in pouring rain so a family can fill their belly's,I fear this is only the start my friends, remember, its the enemy within.

How many millions are we giving away in foreign aid. Charity begins at home.

the fact that situations like this are still happening in the 21st century is almost beyond belief..appalling..its like the bleak days of the early 1900s..how does this happen..

when we were little there were no fridges or freezers or benefits for us. Shoppers had to make do with what cheapest food they could afford and carry it home - our dad had what many consider a good job and mum worked from home, so it's not just the unemployed. it's everybody - we all have to work hard.
