Cumbria bidder wins iPad in Evening Mail reverse auction

AN ASKAM Apple fan has added to his tech-gadget collection after winning the Evening Mail’s reverse auction.
Gareth Lacey’s bid of 74p scooped him an iPad and the 30-year-old said he is looking forward to being able to use it on the go.
He said: “I have got an Apple phone, but this is the first iPad I’ve had. I’ve always had iPhones.
“It is just the same as the phone in that it’s really easy to use.
“I have just been downloading the same apps that I had on my phone, like Radio One and a couple of games.
“I use it around the house but I will take it on holiday with me as well.”
Meanwhile, a Millom woman is heading to Morrisons to spend £100 courtesy of the Mail.
Pat Moyle, of Grammerscroft in Millom, won a £100 voucher for the supermarket in an Evening Mail competition.
And the 61-year-old said although she had no plans of what to spend it on, she was very pleased to win.
Mrs Moyle said: “I have been putting in for competitions for a long time, but never won before.
“I was blaming the postman as I didn’t think they were getting there!
“I was very pleased to win.”
A doting granddaughter will use the money she won in the Evening Mail’s latest fuel giveaway to get her dear old nanna out of the house more.
Victoria Carroll, 30, of Devon Street, Barrow, became a repeat winner of Evening Mail competitions when she scooped up £75.
She said her 80-year-old nan, Mavis Morgan, could no longer drive and relied on her for lifts to the supermarket and other appointments.
Miss Carroll and Mrs Morgan regularly sit down together to cut out the all-important coupons in the Evening Mail’s various cash and fuel competitions.
She said she was thrilled to learn of her second win, having previously scored £50 worth of fuel last year.
“I’ll use it to drive my nan – as well as my aunt, Olive Fielding, who lives with her – out for a nice meal and to do the shopping,” she said.
