Country sports highlights on display

FELL racing and wrestling are just some of the highlights at a summer event.

Langdale Gala takes place on July 1 from noon to 5pm on Walthwaite Meadow, Walthwaite, Chapel Stile, near Ambleside.

There will be junior and senior fell racing, children's flat races and Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling.

Also on the bill is a pet show, junior fancy dress, craft stalls and a full range of refreshments.

Admission is £5 for adults and children get in for free.

Those travelling by bus should take the 516 service from Ambleside or Windermere, and those planning a car journey should follow the A593 from Ambleside and at Skelwith Bridge turn on to the B5343 to Chapel Stile.
