Could you be our next winner?

A TRIO of Evening Mail readers are thrilled with the prizes they won through the Evening Mail.

Prizes, ranging from sub-woofers to walking equipment, were awarded to three lucky readers who entered competitions in the paper before Christmas.

Jeff Standley, a maintenance assistant at Barrow Sixth Form, is over the moon after winning £300 of audio equipment.

The Walney resident said he was “absolutely delighted” when he received the call on Christmas Eve.

He said: “It was a real surprise. It was an extra special Christmas.”

Mr Standley, 64, is keeping the prize in his front room for now.

He said: “I really need a good stereo for them to go with for the car.”

This is not the first competition Mr Standley has won. A couple of years ago he won a romantic Valentine’s Day break at Newby Bridge Hotel.

Barrow resident, Denise Rattray, won a cash prize of £100 in a competition, which she said she plans to spend on her daughter Kirsty’s upcoming wedding.

Another reader, Shaun Hine, won goodies worth £300 from Blacks outdoor store, including two rucksacks, some walking sticks and a tent.

Mr Hine, who regularly enters Evening Mail competitions, said he was “really chuffed” with the prize as he is a keen fell walker.

The Dalton resident, 46, said: “The prize is right up my street. I am up the fells with the dog quite often.”
