Congestion clears after two vehicle crash on major Barrow road

EMERGENCY services responded after a heavily pregnant woman was involved in a two car accident in a major Barrow road.

Police and two ambulances were called out following the incident which occurred on Abbey Road outside the former White House Hotel at 13.30.

A Citroen C3 driven by a 57-year-old woman from Barrow collided with a Honda Civic driven by an 84-year-old man from Barrow.

Drivers and passengers were taken to Furness General Hospital for treatment.

Police were unable to confirm the severity of the injuries.

A police spokeswoman said the wellbeing of the pregnant woman remained the priority of all emergency services involved.

The road was partially blocked but has now been reopened.

Have your say

I have had the displeasure at driving on this junction recently. I myself have had a few near misses, i feel this is dangerous especially with me having a low car.

I feel that this junction needs to be rectified, in my home town there is no one way systems or anything. Barrows traffic needs to be sorted ASAP!

Well done to the emergency services who attended this poor lady and her unborn child. After 1st April, how long would she have had to wait to be released by the Fire Service?
