FOR a fourth consecutive year a Furness independent school maintained its perfect 100 per cent A-Level pass rate.
Chetwynde School’s top performer was Matthew Penellum who achieved four A*s, well exceeding what he needed to secure his place at Cambridge University.
The Barrow school’s head boy will study engineering and aspires to work in Formula One as a mechanical engineer.
The 18-year-old, of Millom, said: “I didn’t expect this. It’s surreal. This is what I was aiming for but I didn’t dream it would happen.”
Matthew gained full marks in two physics, two maths and a chemistry module.
He said: “My time at Chetwynde has been amazing. I couldn’t have done this without the great support of my teachers.”
Daniel Young, who uses his spare time volunteering, was amazed with his two A*s and an A.
The 18-year-old, of Ulverston, achieved his dream to read medicine at the University of Liverpool.
The 2012 Golden Apple community involvement winner volunteers at St Mary’s Hospice, the Bendrigg Trust, St John’s Ambulance and he worked in India this summer at an orphanage for disabled children.
He said: “I’ve always wanted to do medicine and Liverpool is my first choice. I didn’t think it was going to happen.”
Daniel got full marks in a biology and a maths module.
Chetwynde’s group of 18 year 13 students saw 37 per cent of all results being A* or As, and 88 per cent were A* to C grades.
Headmaster, Russell Collier, said: “I am really pleased with another set of excellent A-Level results. This is the fourth year in a row when all of the students have passed every single one of their A2 examinations. With a very encouraging number of the students achieving the top grades and many deciding to continue their studies at some of the top universities in the country, the school congratulates all of them”
